About the Bogata Rodeo
The Bogata Rodeo is a long-standing tradition rooted deep in the heritage and community of Red River County, Texas. First held in August of 1950, what started as a local event quickly became a cornerstone of summer in Bogata—bringing together families, competitors, and spectators from across Northeast Texas and beyond.
From the very beginning, the rodeo showcased classic events like bronc riding, bull dogging, calf roping, and bull riding—“just plain hard riding,” as it was described in its earliest days. Backed by strong community support and local investment, the original arena and grounds were built with the vision of hosting a first-class rodeo, a standard that continues to this day.
For more than seven decades, the Bogata Rodeo has been more than just a competition—it’s been a gathering place. Generations of families have played a role in keeping the tradition alive, from organizing and volunteering to competing in the arena. The event has consistently drawn talent from across the region, and even internationally, while maintaining its small-town roots and welcoming atmosphere.
Throughout the years, the rodeo has honored its history while continuing to evolve. From parade kickoffs and rodeo royalty to youth events like mutton bustin’ and community dances, each year builds on the last—blending tradition with new memories.
Today, the Bogata Rodeo remains a symbol of pride for the community. It stands as a testament to hard work, Western heritage, and the enduring spirit of the people who make it happen. What began in 1950 is now a legacy—one that continues to grow with every ride, every cheer, and every summer night under the arena lights.
